With an unstable world economy and with recession in the air, I think Rolex purposely went for a modest introduction, "keeping" new models for later times.
The gold deep sea? was not going to be a big seller in first place, but they gain all the media and social attention they needed and more.
The 1908, got its place and attention on the podium as no other new watches presented.
The GMT, back to black, nothing really new.
Smart.
And I'm confident that regardless of the economy, the shortage will continue and so is the more gold models in the shops to generate larger turnover if sold.
If I will ever have the access to visit the company, I want to sit with the "planning and statistic." department (that AI that decides what to ship when and to who etc) , for me the most interesting one.

Rolex seems to be taking itself seriously, moving more towards the higher end market. It's unavailable to the normal crowd anyway, so no surprise. I'm just jaded and tired of waiting for my call.
